Scotland is rarely associated with summer holidays, but the country certainly has a lot to offer! Although it’s not the warmest place in the world, there’s plenty to see and do which make it a great place to spend the summer. Read on to find out more!
Edinburgh Fringe
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is one of the cultural highlights of the year in the UK, let alone in Scotland! Taking place across the majority of August, the Fringe attracts tourists from all over the globe, with arts, music and comedy filling the streets, pubs and theatres of the city. In fact, the Edinburgh Fringe is the world’s largest arts festival with tens of thousands of performances.
Fort William
Fort William is located in the West Highlands in the shadow of Ben Nevis – the UK’s largest mountain. The town is famous as an excellent place to stay for long weekends during the summer. With stunning scenery and countless adventure activities to enjoy, it’s a perfect getaway for families and friends.
Glasgow
Scotland’s second city – Glasgow – is an excellent place to spend the summer months, with countless parks to enjoy a picnic or a barbeque with your family and friends. Alternatively, you could take a sailing trip down the Clyde on the world’s largest seagoing paddle steamer or spend some time in one of the many pubs and beer gardens to catch as much of the summer sun as possible.
